Parkville College use principles of applied learning, in combination with the pedagogical approach outlined in the Parkville College model, to deliver teaching and learning experiences to students that are fun, engaging, responsive and linked to real world navigation. As a registered Victorian school, the curriculum is directly in line with the requirements outlined by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
The below suite of curriculum is available to students, with our teachers considering the age, educational readiness, interests and transition pathway of each young person when finalising individual education plans.
Curriculum types include:
Junior Level
Victorian F – 10 Curriculum
This curriculum is delivered to students 15 years of age and younger. It sets out what every student should learn during their first eleven years of schooling. The curriculum outlines the common set of knowledge and skills required by students for lifelong learning, social development and active and informed citizenship.
The Victorian Curriculum F – 10 incorporates the Australian Curriculum and reflects Victorian priorities and standards.
Senior Level
Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) and Victorian Certificate of Education – Vocational Major (VCE VM). Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL - 2023 only).
The VPC is an inclusive year Year 11 and 12 standards-based certificate designed for students who require flexibility in their educational experiences. This may be completed in a period of 12 months and recognises that a student has gained the foundational knowledge required in senior secondary schooling.
The VCE VM is a vocational and applied learning program within the VCE designed to be completed over a minimum of two years. The VCE VM is provided to students at Parkville College on an as needs basis, taking into account length of stay, educational readiness, individual interests and the transition pathway of each young person. Completion of the VCE VM provides students with a senior secondary certificate and notes that their educational pathway was centred around vocational learning.
VCAL is currently in its final year of delivery, with students having the opportunity to complete in 2023. VCAL is an applied learning program and acknowledges the completion of senior secondary schooling in Victoria.
Students completing VPC, VCE VM or VCAL will have access to a common range of subjects including:

Campuses
Parkville Campus
The Parkville Campus is located within the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct. It is a maximum-security facility, housing both males and females, run by DJCS (Department of Justice and Community Safety). This campus accomodates 12 - 14 year old boys, 18 to 24 year old young men and 12 - 24 year old girls and young women.
Cherry Creek Campus
The Cherry Creek Campus is a new purpose built youth justice facility, near Werribee in Victoria, run by DJCS (Department of Justice and Community Safety). Parkville College provides education to the 15 - 18 year old young men housed at Cherry Creek. This facility opened in August 2023.
Secure Care Services
The two Secure Care Services (SCS) campuses provide education and supports to vulnerable and at-risk youth who are subject to a Child Protection order. DFFH (Department of Families, Fairness and Housing) manage both sites. SCS form part of a continuum of strengthened care and protection services for child protection clients, who are at a substantial and immediate risk of harm. The aim of Secure Care is to keep children safe whilst a suitable case plan is established; to reduce the risk of harm, and return them to the community as soon as possible, in a safe and planned way.
