Welcome to Parkville College
Parkville College is a specialist Victorian Government School that provides education to students who are, or have been, detained in custody. Working in unison with the Department of Health
and Human Services and the Department of Justice and Regulation, we deliver education across seven diverse campuses throughout Victoria.
Parkville College has a number of unique characteristics when compared to other school
settings, including the requirement to operate 52 weeks per year and the transient nature
of our students with varying lengths of stay.
Our students represent some of the most disadvantaged in the state, with most, victims
of abuse, trauma or neglect. Parkville College is registered as a specialist school, and caters for students with disabilities, as well as social, emotional, learning and behavioural difficulties.
At Parkville College, students are diligently supported by a team of dedicated teaching and support staff, who work towards the full development of every student. Parkville College teachers assist our students to develop whilst detained, enabling them to change their trajectory and reintegrate into society.
In response to the diverse array of abilities, Parkville College teachers have developed a credible and flexible curriculum to meet students’ varying needs and interests, comprising of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) and the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL).
Our school supports students through all levels of education regardless of their age, background
and level of education, from early primary years, through to secondary and beyond.
